Fall Vintage Inspiration is here!

It’s time for that annual rite of autumn, the Vintage Fashion Guild’s Fall Vintage Inspiration.

Each year we look for modern trends that seem especially indebted to vintage fashion and collect some examples of the originals. This year all the items shown are offered for sale by VFG trade members as of the date of publication, yesterday. You could think of it as a carefully curated pop-up shop of on-trend vintage fashion.

Further, clicking on an item takes you into members’ online shops, all well worth visiting.

Whether you stop by for fall fashion inspiration or for new items for your fall wardrobe, please do stop by Vintage Inspiration:

Vintage Inspirations: Fall 2007

"For Fall 2007, designers have reached way back, finding inspiration in clothing of the 1940s and even the 1920s. Along with Deco dolls and film noir starlets, the Lady has returned, with her long gloves and wardrobe of hats! See these and other inspirations for fall fashion, courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild."

We invite you to review our newest fashion feature written by VFG Member, denisebrain.

Prints, Please

70's City-scape print dress from fast_eddies_retro_rags

In the mood for some funky prints? Seems everyone is! Prints are a hot trend this year.

After a very dark fall season, prints are making a comeback in a big way. Three you'll see this upcoming season are: 70s style, animal and floral. Rebecca Taylor is known for her “cool girl” designs and this season was no exception. I love her printed top and 70s style jean. And there is nothing sexier than an animal print done right.

Florals range this season from 60s mod to sophisticated and refined. All of these prints are appropriate for any age group. What's important is that the print should match the stature of the woman. Very petite woman will look dwarfed by an oversized print and woman with a bigger frame can dwarf a print if it's too small or cutesy. Look for styles that play up the shape of your body to use prints to their best advantage.

Also, if prints scare you, start small. Do a printed accessory like a scarf or a shoe or bag and slowly work in separate pieces first, like a blouse or skirt and then take the plunge into dresses or printed coats.
Read the rest of the msn.com article here.

The VFG has also called out Prints as a super hot trend in vintage this year. Vintage Inspirations focused on prints both charming & valiant for Spring.

And over on the VFG Forums - pinky-a-gogo asked posters to show their favorites. Come by and show us yours or oogle the goodies featured (like this pictured stunner by Alfred Shaheen from pinky-a-gogo).

Perhaps your man is more of a Prince Valiant type? Desiring wild, colorful print dresses that show off your figure? Then he must be a Pucci fan and you can definitely fill that void with two beauties from chezmov and pinky-a-gogo. Alas, if designer is not in your budget, we are in serious love with this paisley canvas Spring jacket (pictured) from The Vintage Bungalow. View all the Prints Charming/Valiant items here.

Spring Into Vintage Inspirations

The Spring 2007 issue of VFG's Vintage Inspirations is here and it's quite possibly the best one ever. Our member Maggie aka denisebrain pulled together a sensational fresh look on the seasonal piece.

Vintage Inspirations takes on the challenge of helping find vintage that relates and works with modern trends. Spring's installment focuses on the impact of silver, details like embroidery and ruffles, prints in color and black & white and the high fashion, sexy looks reminiscent of the 40's and 50's. Each page is a visual thrill!

There are links to every seller who's included in the presentation, so even if they no longer have that fabulous piece that's featured, you're sure to find something equally fantastic. Whether you splurge on that lipstick red 40's bikini from Couture Allure or you snag a bargain with the coolest black and white raffia babydoll pumps from Material Memories (I'd act now on those beauties if they're your size!) you're sure to find something just perfect for Spring 2007.
