1. When did you first get interested in vintage fashion & why?
An appreciation for vintage started as a character actor. It grew when I, essentially, inherited a mother lode of 60s clothing ten years ago. I had always been an avid thrift shopper though and would sometimes buy pieces just to admire not really knowing they were vintage at the time.
2. Do you regularly wear vintage?
I'm a jeans and t kinda gal most of the time, but I spice it up with vintage, especially jackets, sweaters, scarves and footwear. My favourite winter coat is a 1940s swing style that I pair with some funky 70s boots.
3. Do you have a Holy Grail?
More than one! On that list is a 60s Yves Saint Laurent Tribute to Tom Wesslemann Pop Art dress. I was fortunate to find an early 70s licensed copy once, but the hunt continues for the real deal.
4. If you could visit the atelier of any fashion designer (dead or alive), who would it be?
Vera Neuman.
5. What do you see as the future of vintage?
Fashion always borrows from the past. As one of my theatre professors once said "Nothing is ever truly original". Designer prices on the other hand break new ground each year. Vintage is a viable, affordable alternative. The message is growing and I see more and more people turning to vintage as their fashion choice.
6. What is your favorite item in your shop?
A fab Yves Saint Laurent tartan plaid suit for her at Big Yellow Taxi Vintage:
