Dr. Zhivago ~ VFG Fashion Parade for the week of December 23rd

Dr. Zhivago

The epic 1965 movie Dr. Zhivago won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design (by Phyllis Dalton) and left an indelible mark on fashion and culture. The depiction of the pre- and post-Revolutionary Russia was deeply romantic, with its abandoned ice palaces, tortured poets, nobility falling from lavish lifestyles, hardy peasants, and sabre-armed Cossacks. With winter winds howling, it's a great time to take a cue from Zhivago. We suggest romantic prints, mid-calf skirts, long cardigans, sturdy boots, wide belts, Cossack-inspired coats, and most especially furry flourishes, including the iconic hat...all with a Russian accent.
