Get the Look: British Invasion

They seek him here, they seek him there,
His clothes are loud, but never square. —Ray Davies/The Kinks "Dedicated Follower of Fashion"

Intertwined with the hit music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who and numerous other acts, the British Invasion brought the dress of Swinging London, where fashionable boutiques (particularly on Carnaby Street and King’s Road, Chelsea) catered to the quickly evolving styles of young people. Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy were two of the most photographed ambassadors of mid-1960s England, showcasing the latest mod looks. The style included mini skirts and flats, tailor-made suits and Beatle boots, bold patterns including the Union Jack, shorter hair on girls, longer hair on boys. As Diana Vreeland said in 1965, "London is the most swinging city in the world at the moment."

This week, revisit the 60s fashion hits which never seem to leave the Top 10.
